A 'NUT FREE' and 'SESAME FREE' SCHOOL

Due to severe allergies within our school community, we kindly remind all parents and guardians that nuts and nut-based products are not permitted in school. This also includes products that contain sesame and/or sesame oil.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Packs of nuts (any type)
Nut based chocolate spread e.g. Nutella
Peanut butter sandwiches
Fruit and cereal bars that contain nuts or sesame
Chocolate bars or sweets that contain nuts or sesame
Sesame seed rolls / bagels / Ryvita (children allergic to nuts may also have a severe reaction to sesame)
Humous made with sesame
Cakes made with nuts
Anything food that has nuts or sesame listed in its ingredients

We appreciate your support in helping us keep all children safe. If you are unsure whether a product is nut-free or sesame free, please check the packaging carefully or choose an alternative item.

School Dinners

Here at St Johns we offer a wide range of lunches for the children to try. These include a hot meal, a vegetarian hot choice, a jacket potato with a choice of fillings and a chilled choice.

The lunches provided are low in salt, sugar and higher in nutrients than an average packed lunch ensuring your child will receive a balanced meal. Due to government funding all children in F2 (Acorn Class), Year 1 (Rowan Class) and Year 2 (Cedar Class) qualify for a free school lunch. We do however encourage you to apply for free school meals even if your child is in these classes in order to qualify for other benefits the children are entitled to. For all children in Year 3 to Year 6, the price of a school meal is £3.52 a day (£17.60 a week). If you choose for your child to have a school meal, these are ordered in class by your child. Meals should be paid for in advance via Arbor and Meal Top Up.
